Wayland, Mich. (March 3, 2026) – Gun Lake Casino Resort (GLCR) today, enthusiastically announced the addition of Mary Gaines as Vice President of Human Resources. She has more than 25 years of experience in HR operations across diverse industries and geographies.
“These past months at GLCR have been both humbling and inspiring as I’ve learned more about the Gun Lake Tribe, the importance of Tribal Sovereignty, and the meaningful impact the Tribe and Casino have on its Team Members and the community. I believe leadership begins with listening, understanding people’s stories, and respecting the cultures that define who we are. I am honored to join GLCR’s exceptional Executive and HR Teams in a permanent capacity and look forward to building on this foundation together,” said Mary Gaines, Vice President of Human Resources.
Gaines has worked in a variety of industries which include nonprofits, healthcare companies, biotech firms, and union organizations. She holds an undergraduate degree from Calvin University and an MBA from Grand Valley State University.
Gaines began her career working with at-risk youth in residential treatment and helped launch a program serving young women who were survivors of domestic trafficking. She later transitioned into corporate training, to design leadership, team building, and conflict management programs. She has worked internationally, in Liberia and South Africa.
Outside of work, Gaines has a daughter, son and daughter-in-law, and five amazing grandsons who keep life joyful and active. She enjoys reading, traveling, spending time on the beaches of Lake Michigan, music, and cheering on the Washington Commanders with her husband. She also loves listening to people’s stories, something that not only enriches her life personally, but continues to shape her leadership philosophy that every individual brings value, perspective, and potential to the workplace.
