Gary, IN (September 15, 2026) – September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day. In recognition of this important annual observance, Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana is donating $25,000 to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The funds will support its Out of the Darkness Northwest Indiana Walk on October 3 in Wicker Park in Highland. The donation was presented to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on September 10, 2026, at Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana.
Many people’s introduction to AFSP comes through the Out of the Darkness Walks, taking place in cities nationwide. In AFSP’s Community, Campus and Overnight Walks, those affected by suicide – and those who support them – raise awareness and much-needed funds, strongly sending the message that suicide can be prevented, and that no one is alone.
AFSP’s signature fundraising series brings together friends, family, and supporters in more than 400 communities nationwide. Funds raised at the Out of the Darkness Northwest Indiana Walk directly support research, advocacy efforts, and educational programs in schools, workplaces, and communities across IN. The Walks are an opportunity to find a supportive community of people who get it, to know you’re not alone, and to make a difference together.
