Revolutionizing Dining: Celebrating Native American Heritage Month with Chef Sean Sherman

We kick off November honoring Native American Heritage Month with a very special guest on TG&H On Air. Sean Sherman is an award-winning chef, educator, author, and activist. Chef Sean’s story is just the first of several interviews as TG&H highlights and supports Tribal casino and resorts along with their team members in their initiative to provide heathy and culturally significant food moving into 2024.

In 2023, Sean was named one of Time’s 100 most influential people as well as receiving the highly prestigious Julia Child Award.

His nonprofit, NATIFS, and its Indigenous Food Lab, a professional Indigenous Kitchen and Training Center, are working to build and support an Indigenous infrastructure, create a center for Indigenous Education, and promote the creation and maintenance of healthy food access throughout Indigenous communities.

In this provocative interview, we ask how indigenous food can be integrated into our casino resorts and what synergies can be nurtured. Sean shares how diabetes, heart disease, obesity – that impacts Native and non-Native alike – can be remedied by eating healthy, indigenous food, that does not focus on dairy, wheat flour and cane sugar.

To find out more how your casino resort can educate your current chefs and/or take the first steps to integrate Indigenous foods on your property, visit North American Traditional Food Systems for more information.

With gratitude to all of our readers,

Sincerely,
