Our feature story for the Spring issue is on the The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and the expansion of the Elwha River Casino. The existing 10,000 square foot property originally opened in March 2009 and the 12,130 square foot expansion will be added to the existing casino building, increasing the property’s Class II Gaming count to 300 total gaming terminals.
TG&H sat down with their general manager, Mike Watson who shares how the project is moving along and the impact it will have on their Tribe when it opens this Spring.
The new additions will include more gaming floor space with a new dining and bar experience. The restaurant will be relaunching with a new menu, alcohol service, larger dining room, outdoor seating, and a live entertainment area. Woodstone, Inc. will provide the construction management oversight, while Bergman Walls and Associates and the owner worked together to provide the architectural design and concepts to bring the project to fruition. The expansion of the casino will also add an estimated 15 to 20 new job positions.
Elwha River Casino is known as the friendliest casino on the Peninsula and is nestled in the heart of the pristine Elwha River Valley. It is a favorite spot for casino gaming with 138 Vegas-style games, dining, promotions, and seasonal events. Elwha River Casino is located just 7 minutes west of Port Angeles, Washington.
