Battle Creek, MI (June 25, 2024) — In a prestigious acknowledgment of unwavering dedication and excellence, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Gaming Commission is honored to announce its receipt of the 2024 Excellence in Gaming Team Award, bestowed by the North American Gaming Regulators Association (NAGRA). This esteemed accolade was presented during the NAGRA Annual Education and Training Conference’s closing event on Thursday, June 13, 2024, hosted aboard the historic USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Excellence in Gaming Team Award is specifically designed to honor regulators who have made outstanding contributions in the field of gaming regulatory or enforcement accomplishments. The NHBP Gaming Commission was recognized for its sustained achievements, exceptional performance and extraordinary contributions to gaming regulation.

Established in 1984, NAGRA serves as a platform for regulatory agencies to exchange information and techniques related to gaming regulation. The association aims to provide ongoing education and training for its members, develop standards for legislation and rules concerning gaming activities and serve as a unified voice on legislative matters.
The NHBP Gaming Commission’s recognition by NAGRA highlights its commitment to excellence in gaming regulation. Key achievements include adopting comprehensive new regulations addressing various aspects of the gaming industry, including Licensing, Audit, Investigations, IT, Hearings, Exclusions, and Enforcement. The commission has ensured transparency in its regulatory updates by engaging in town hall meetings and public postings. Additionally, the NHBP Gaming Commission has made strides in prioritizing cybersecurity through IT initiatives.
The commission also successfully hosted the Gaming Commission Symposium, fostering industry collaboration focusing on cultural preservation and improved community engagement by showcasing dedication to responsible gaming and active participation in community initiatives.
