Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise Provides Update on Construction of New Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks

New Casino Located at the 303 and Northern Parkway, On Schedule for End of Year Opening

GLENDALE, Ariz. (April 23, 2024) – On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise hosted a media tour to showcase major progress being made on construction of their new $450 million facility at 8200 N. Sarival Ave. at the corner of the Loop 303 & Northern Parkway. Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy is the name of the new facility, and it is on track for completion by the end of 2024.

The new casino will offer 900 Class III slot machines, a poker room, a sportsbook, and table games including blackjack, craps, roulette, and baccarat. Guests will enjoy multiple exciting restaurant options, including fine dining at Morton’s Steakhouse. Future phases of construction will expand the facility to include a hotel, conference center, and other amenities. The project is creating 5,500 construction jobs. Once completed, the facility will employ more than 1,000 team members.

The Enterprise has undertaken an ambitious 19-month construction schedule, including extensive offsite upgrades, to complete the casino and amenities. The facility’s covered parking structure was erected in just 49 days. Casino roofing is already underway and exterior walls are in finishing phases. Interior framing is moving forward, and the 184,000 square-foot casino floor is taking shape.

Mike Bean, CEO of the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise said, “Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy will be a beautiful, upscale facility that will be an entertainment mecca and economic engine for the fastest-growing region in the Valley. Our construction team is doing an incredible job keeping us moving forward on an aggressive timescale. We are excited to create more opportunity for the Tohono O’odham Nation and the West Valley.”

The property for the new facility is located on 80 acres of reservation land, west of Glendale, Arizona. This land was taken into trust by the federal government for the Tohono O’odham Nation, in a process similar to what was done for the Desert Diamond Casino West Valley facility.

Desert Diamond Casinos & Entertainment, with three locations in Southern Arizona (Tucson, Sahuarita, and Why) and one in the West Valley near Glendale, AZ, is owned and operated by the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise, an enterprise of the Tohono O’odham Nation.
