WELCH, Minn. (September 15, 2026) — Treasure Island Resort & Casino is now a proud sponsor of Gopher Athletics. Gopher Sports Properties and the resort and casino known as Destination Fun today announced a multi-year sponsorship that spans across Gopher Athletics.
“Partnering with Gopher Sports Properties and Gopher Athletics creates an incredible opportunity to not only build awareness for Treasure Island Resort & Casino, Minnesota’s premier gaming destination, but also to tell our Tribe’s story and long-time connection to Mni Sota Makoce,” said Grant Johnson, Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Council President. “We look forward to showcasing our Dakota heritage and culture with Golden Gopher fans.”
As part of the sponsorship, Treasure Island will maintain a prominent presence across Gopher Athletics, including Gopher Football, Gopher Volleyball and select Gopher Men’s Basketball games. Key elements of the collaboration include a Treasure Island wheel activation at select home football games, providing fans with opportunities to engage and win prizes, as well as the Kicks for Kids program in which Treasure Island will donate $300 for every Gophers made field goal this season. The program aims to expand access to youth football throughout Minnesota.
Additionally, Treasure Island will sponsor select name, image and likeness events and serve as the presenting sponsor of a Gopher Men’s Basketball Native American Heritage game, further strengthening its commitment to community engagement. The game will be announced at a later date. Treasure Island will also be the presenting sponsor of the volleyball match on Oct. 4, when the Gophers host the Wisconsin Badgers at Maturi Pavilion.
Treasure Island will also feature the Gophers on its property, including weekly Gopher Football food and drink specials and watch parties for select Gophers games, among other events.
