New U.S. Currency Is Coming — What Tribal Casinos Need to Know

Later this year, the U.S. Treasury will introduce a newly redesigned $10 bill — the first in a multi-year series of currency updates that will impact every cash-handling environment, including tribal casinos.

While the $10 may seem like a small change, it marks the beginning of a broader redesign that will affect slot machines, table games, kiosks, cages, count rooms, and retail operations across casino properties. For gaming operators, the transition raises important questions around device readiness, staff training, counterfeit risk, and player experience.

To help casino operators stay ahead of these changes, CPI has been actively educating the gaming industry on what’s coming and how to prepare. Through a recent webinar focused specifically on the casino environment, CPI brought together gaming and currency experts to break down what the new U.S. currency redesign means for casino operations and why early planning matters.

Click here to read the latest article from CPI focused on outlining what’s changing, where risks for casinos may emerge, and concrete steps to take now before the new notes start hitting the floor.

In addition to these educational sessions, CPI continues to publish planning tools, guidance, and updates through its Currency Resource Page, giving tribal gaming operators practical information they can use today. These resources help casinos assess device readiness, plan upgrades, train staff, and reduce the risk of disruption as new notes enter circulation.
