How Treasure Island Resort & Casino Elevates Guest Experience and Impacts Community

Treasure Island Resort & Casino in Welch, MN, is a premier Midwest destination, investing in renovations and social initiatives for guests, staff, and the community.

Treasure Island Resort & Casino, the only casino in southern Minnesota, is pouring significant resources into creating a first-class experience benefiting its guests, team members, and local community partners.

From expansive property renovations to new innovative social responsibility initiatives, Treasure Island Resort & Casino, located in Welch, Minnesota, is making substantial investments in its guests, team members, and the local community, positioning itself not only as the premier destination for fun in the Midwest, but also the region’s employer and community partner of choice.

WAVE, a first-class guest service model

In an effort to ensure guests are provided with an engaging and entertaining experience during their stay, Treasure Island recently implemented a new guest service training program, WAVE, which stands for welcome, appreciate, value, and entertain. It’s an easy-to-remember, four-step process that equips team members with the necessary tools to enhance guest experience from the moment someone arrives at Treasure Island.

WAVE follows program values of respect, ethics, leadership, teamwork, recognition, accountability, safety, fun, service, integrity, diversity, and community. It’s based on the vision of making Treasure Island the employer of choice and the destination for fun in the Midwest. The business model is selling an experience, and it’s Treasure Island’s team members who create that positive experience for guests, starting with the four-step WAVE process that curates a welcoming environment for all.

A record number of jackpots produce BIG winners at Treasure Island

Nothing keeps people coming back to the gaming floor more than winning, and a record number of lucky guests have been leaving Treasure Island as winners this year. Each calendar month through July 2025 has featured a monthly jackpot record, shattering previous monthly bests — both in the number of jackpots hit and in the overall dollar figures paid out.

Hitting those jackpots has never been more possible at Treasure Island, thanks to an exciting combination of thrilling new games mixed with can’t-miss favorites. Of Treasure Island’s 1,800 slot machines, an average of 3.2 of them per week are new to the floor. Recent new games include Five Fortunes, Drums Eternity, Big Dollar Triple Pot, Pearl Dynasty, and Jackpot Time.

In addition to its wide variety of slot machines, Treasure Island is Minnesota’s first casino to feature progressive Blackjack Match, which is currently only available at Treasure Island. Since its installation in June, over $400,000 in progressive wins have been paid out, including two wins over $50,000. A $180,000-and-climbing bad beat poker jackpot at Treasure Island is also the highest in the area.

From record jackpots and new slot machines to first-to-market table games, Treasure Island provides a wide variety of gaming options for its guests to hit it big!

Island Impact creates ripples in the local community and among team members

Treasure Island’s investments extend far beyond the resort and casino property and into the community. Since its inception in 1984, Treasure Island, along with the Prairie Island Indian Community, has given back nearly $30 million to local and regional organizations. Earlier this year, it launched a new social responsibility platform, Island Impact, to guide those philanthropic efforts. The aim of Island Impact is to harness the power of Tribal Gaming and create a ripple effect of generosity that drives positive change in the community.

Island Impact is guided by five core pillars — Cultural Awareness & Education, Economic Empowerment, Health, Wellness & Equity, Environmental Stewardship, and Team Member Well-Being. Those pillars are also used to select partners for Treasure Island’s Charity of the Month program, which in its fourth year has generated over $1.2 million for its charity partners, including over $300,000 in the last year. Beginning in 2026, Treasure Island is doubling down on its investment by matching all donations made by guests as part of the Charity of the Month program.

In addition to providing additional structure to its charitable giving, Island Impact also features a volunteer time-off program that allows full-time team members paid time off to make an impact in their communities. Additionally, a team member relief fund was created to support Treasure Island employees in times of need or during emergency situations. The team member relief fund is mostly funded by Treasure Island, with team members able to contribute toward the program as well.
