Valley View Casino & Hotel Names San Diego Law Enforcement Veteran Karla Menzies Vice President of Security and Transportation

SAN DIEGO (August 31, 2026) — For more than two decades, Valley View Casino & Hotel has built its reputation on creating a guest experience where exceptional service extends to every corner of the property. Today, the premier Southern California casino and hotel is strengthening that commitment by appointing 25-year law enforcement veteran Karla Menzies as Vice President of Security and Transportation, bringing decades of public safety and executive leadership experience to Valley View’s leadership team.

Menzies joins Valley View Casino following a distinguished career with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, where she rose through the ranks from deputy to commander and led complex operations spanning public safety, investigations, training, personnel and community engagement.

Most recently, she oversaw the Court Services Bureau and Training Division, including seven courthouses, law enforcement academies, weapons training and emergency vehicle operations. Her transition from public service to hospitality brings a unique depth of leadership to Valley View as the casino continues investing in the people and operations behind the experience its guests have come to know and expect.

“I recognized Karla’s leadership skills several years ago when she was the Lieutenant in charge of the Valley Center Station. I watched as she was promoted to Sheriff’s Captain and then Commander. I knew then her education, work experience and compassionate demeanor would be a fantastic addition to our Valley View team,” said Boyd Long, Assistant General Manager at Valley View Casino & Hotel. “Her leadership speaks for itself, and I am confident Karla will bring the high level of security, safety and service that will ensure every guest feels secure and welcome from the moment they arrive.”

At Valley View, security and transportation are an integral part of the guest experience. In her new role, Menzies will oversee the teams responsible for helping make each visit feel seamless from the moment guests arrive on property. From transportation and valet to the casino floor, restaurants and entertainment, her leadership will help ensure the care Valley View Casino is known for extends beyond what guests see to the people and operations working behind the scenes to keep them safe and supported.

“Welcoming Karla to our team is an exciting milestone for all of us at Valley View” said Bruce Howard, General Manager of Valley View Casino & Hotel. “Having someone with Karla’s level of expertise overseeing our security and transportation operations is a tremendous addition to our team. We are proud to introduce Karla to our Valley View family of team members and guests.”

“I’m honored and thrilled to join Valley View Casino and bring my experience in public safety to a team that already values guest service and experience at such a high standard,” said Menzies. “I look forward to helping raise the bar alongside the rest of the team to continue to build on the world-class experience that guests know and love at Valley View Casino.”

The appointment represents the latest investment Valley View Casino & Hotel has made in the people behind its guest experience. For more than 25 years, Valley View Casino has built its reputation by pairing premier gaming, dining and entertainment with a distinctly personal approach to hospitality. With Menzies joining its executive leadership team, Valley View Casino is further strengthening the operations behind that experience, so guests can continue to expect the welcoming, seamless and memorable visits that have defined the destination for decades.
