War Returns to the Diamond Center on Nov. 10

TUCSON, Ariz. (September 15, 2023) — WAR, the original Afro Cuban jazz rock blues band, is set to return to the Diamond Center on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023. Tickets start at $30 and go on sale Friday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. through Etix and at Desert Diamond Casino’s Box Office. Doors open at 7 p.m.; show starts at 8 p.m. Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, or with recent exposure to a person with COVID-19, is asked to stay home.

Since first forming in the late 1960s, WAR has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. Lonnie Jordan, original lead singer, keyboardist, and musical director has always been the voice of WAR and is one of the most versatile and musically talented men of the 20th century. His powerful voice presides over WAR’s political, historical and downright fun songbook. WAR’s music is a timeless thread in the quilt of American pop culture.

The success of WAR is reflected in their numerous honors—17 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards. These include: triple platinum The World Is A Ghetto, multi-platinum Why Can’t We Be Friends? All Day Music, and Deliver the World, and gold singles from their Quad platinum Greatest Hits Album. Also, “Summer,” their single from WAR’s Greatest Hits Live album sold gold and set a new record as the first single from any greatest hits package to become a hit. This year, fronted by co-founding member Lonnie Jordan, the group will celebrate 50 years of 1973’s No. 1 Billboard top-selling album, The World is a Ghetto, with a 50-date summer tour, remixes, new releases and more.

Treena Parvello, Director of Government and Public Relations for the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise, said, “WAR first took the stage at the Diamond Center nearly 10 years ago. Since then, they have returned to put on phenomenal shows, entertaining their biggest fans right here in Southern Arizona.
