The purpose of this hybrid listening session is to hear directly from tribal leaders and their designees in California, both in- person and virtually, about tribal ICWA priorities. On the heels of Haaland v. Brackeen Supreme Court decision affirming the constitutionality of ICWA, CTFC and NICWA continue to advocate for and support improved ICWA implementation and compliance. We are seeking tribal leader input to guide our work, including developing resources, providing support, and advocacy to strengthen child welfare systems at the tribal, state, and federal levels and to continue to change the narrative about ICWA. There are many different forms this could take, and your guidance is critical.
