TEMECULA, Calif. (August 2020) – As millions of Americans told the Census Bureau recently they did not have enough to eat, Pechanga is providing grants to three local food pantries totaling $20,000. The funds will help support the pantries as they work to meet the urgent needs of local families. The beneficiaries include the Community Food Pantry of Murrieta, the HOPE Food Pantry, and the Community Mission of Hope.
The Community Food Pantry of Murrieta distributes food to families in Murrieta, Winchester, and the French Valley Corridor at no charge, and provides financial worksheets to assist families in organizing finances. The Pantry is assisting over 520 families during the pandemic and is receiving a grant for $7,500.
The HOPE Food Pantry provides food, clothing, and shelter to people in need in the City of Lake Elsinore and is serving over 2,000 families per month during this challenging time, a 100% increase over what their intake was prior to COVID. The HOPE Food Pantry is receiving a donation of $7,500 from Pechanga.
The Community Mission of Hope helps those living in Temecula in need toward the goal of self-sufficiency. CMoH provides tangible help, through food and hygiene products, as well as compassionate mentorship for the social, physical, financial and spiritual needs of local individuals and families. They also offer case management & housing assistance. The Community Mission of Hope will use the $5,000 grant to help families affected by unemployment caused by the pandemic to cover their monthly rent.
