BANNING, CA (July 2, 2024) – As part of its ongoing commitment to local youth, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians presented the non-profit Banning High School Boosters Club with a $50,000 contribution to support local student athletics.
The funds from Morongo will specifically assist the boosters in purchasing sports equipment for high school athletes, as well as a large inflatable tunnel shaped like a school’s mascot bronco for teams to run through on their way onto athletic fields.
“Morongo is delighted to be supporting the BHS Boosters as high school athletics play a pivotal role in building character, and teaching teamwork, discipline, and perseverance to local student athletes,” said Morongo Tirbal Chairman Charles Martin. “These programs help shape young people into responsible and resilient adults, fostering a sense of community.”
Angelica Lyons, the treasurer of the Banning High School Boosters Club, thanked Morongo for the donation, which will support numerous athletic teams at the high school.
“We deeply appreciate the generosity of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and the Tribe’s commitment to local high school sports and student athletes,” Lyons said. “The ongoing support from Morongo and our community partners allows our local youth to pursue their interests as they gain important skills and lifelong friendships.”
Morongo remains committed to strengthening the quality of life in communities across Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Over the past decade, Morongo has given over $20 million to support local and regional nonprofit organizations that help seniors, families, veterans, youth and those in need.
