Gila River Hotels & Casinos – Wild Horse Pass, Lone Butte and Vee Quiva to Close Temporarily to Reduce the Spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The complete closure will be the first for a Phoenix-metro-based Hotel & Casino due to the COVID-19 pandemic

CHANDLER, Ariz. (March 17, 2020) – Gila River Gaming Enterprises, Inc. will temporarily close Gila River Hotels & Casinos – Wild Horse Pass, Lone Butte and Vee Quiva. The decision came after heightened concerns for the health and safety of our team members and guests during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The closure will be effective for all three properties beginning at 4 a.m. on March 18, and will be in effect for two weeks.

“As a gaming and hospitality leader in Arizona, we felt it was in everyone’s best interest to be proactive and close our hotels and casinos to do our part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19),” said Kenneth Manuel, CEO of Gila River Hotels & Casinos. “We have been actively following the guidelines and best practices set forth from the CDC, WHO and the Arizona Department of Health Services. While there have been no reported cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) at any Gila River Hotels & Casinos property as of today, this was an ethical decision to protect our team members and our guests.”

Guests currently staying at either hotel property will be contacted for relocation desires or refunds. Those who have booked future hotel reservations or events with Wild Horse Pass in Chandler and Vee Quiva in Laveen can contact 1-800-WINGILA for details about rescheduling or refunds.

Throughout this closure, Gila River Hotels & Casinos will continue to keep the public updated. Should Gila River decide to open sooner, or need to extend the closure, Gila River will update their website at PlayAtGila.com. During this closure all team members will continue to be paid and receive benefits.
