Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria to Host 35th Annual  California Indian Basketweavers’ Association Gathering

‘Resiliency and Strength through Basket Weaving’ — June 19–21 at Graton Resort & Casino

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (May 12, 2026) —The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria will host the 35th Annual Gathering of the California Indian Basketweavers’ Association (CIBA), taking place June 19–21, 2026, at Graton Resort & Casino, 288 Golf Course Dr., Rohnert Park. The event will be held on the ancestral tribal lands of the Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo peoples.

This year’s theme — Resiliency and Strength through Basket Weaving — reflects the enduring cultural traditions that California Indian basket weaving represents across generations. CIBA’s annual gathering brings together Native weavers, cultural practitioners, and community members from across California to share knowledge, celebrate artistry, and strengthen tribal connections.

“Hosting CIBA’s gathering on our ancestral homelands is an honor and a reflection of our deep commitment to preserving and celebrating Native culture,” said Greg Sarris, Tribal Chairman, Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. “Basket weaving is a living tradition — one that carries the stories, resilience, and identity of our people.”

“This year’s Annual Gathering at Graton Resort & Casino holds special significance as we commemorate CIBA’s 35 years of ensuring that basket weaving traditions are carried on,” stated Starla Madrigal, Chairperson of CIBA. “During the event, we will pay tribute to our founding board members and celebrate the lasting legacy that continues to guide and inspire our organization.”
