Casino Del Sol Announces Architect, General Contractor and Owner’s Representative for Central Tucson Casino Project

Design and construction planning underway for 65,000-square-foot property

TUCSON, Ariz. (January 29, 2024) – As plans for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s new gaming facility forge ahead, Casino Del Sol is proud to announce its partners for the multi-year construction project. Yaeger Architecture, McCarthy Building Companies, and Summit Project Management have been selected to design, develop, and oversee the new build at the intersection of Grant Road and Interstate 10 in central Tucson.

The 65,000 square-foot gaming facility will feature an expansive casino floor complete with a sportsbook, high limit room, slot machines, and table games. The property will also boast three food and beverage outlets including a food court, full-service restaurant and center bar. In addition to a surface parking lot with 195 spaces, a new four-level parking garage will be built on-site to accommodate 1,050 vehicles.

McCarthy Building Companies will serve as general contractor for the project. “Over the years we’ve had the privilege of working with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe on various expansion and renovations projects at Casino Del Sol, which have helped make it a top destination in the southwest,” said Kurt Nyberg, Vice President of Operations for McCarthy Building Company’s Southwest region. “As Tucson and the state of Arizona continue to grow, building a new property for tourists and locals to experience makes perfect sense and we’re proud to partner with the tribe again, and do our part to bring their vision to life.”

Yaeger Architecture will serve as the architect for the project, establishing the schematic design, floor plan, exterior renderings, and interior design concepts for the project. “It is a privilege to be able to help Casino Del Sol expand their business and extend their exceptional level of customer service to another location. We look forward to working with Casino Del Sol, and the other members of the project development team, to create a true destination casino in Tucson,” said Yaeger Architecture President, Carl Yaeger.

Summit Project Management will provide owner’s representative and project management services. “Summit Project Management is honored to be joining the team as Owner’s Representative and look forward to helping to deliver this world-class venue,” said Mark Wilson, Associate Principal & Director of Business Development at Summit Project Management.

Amaktoolik Studios led the site planning stage of the project.

“We couldn’t be happier to introduce the team we’ve assembled to bring our new world-class gaming property to life,” said CEO of Casino Del Sol, Kimberly Van Amburg. “This talented group of professionals has already made fantastic progress on the planning front, and we’re really excited about the direction so far. We look forward to breaking ground later this year.”
