How has the NIGC made sure that the controls fit with changing technology that impact tribal gaming? Tim Cotton, IT Audit Manager, NIGC states, “Everyone’s on edge, to a degree, about making sure they have the right processes in place, the right infrastructure in place – to ensure that they can quell a lot of those attacks that may be coming to their operations.”
Cotton states that the NIGC has always been a forward-looking organization and that there are many resources out there for tribal organization that may need help. This includes cyber training, control and IT training, as well as on-site vulnerability assessments. Cotton adds, “We want the technology to be there. We want it to be in place … ultimately it is the tribal assets that are the most important.”
