Pueblo Leaders and Community Members to Protest Los Alamos National Laboratory Transmission Line Approval

SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO (October 24, 2024) — In response to the recent approval of the Los Alamos National Laboratory transmission line, which will cut through the culturally and ecologically significant Caja del Rio plateau, Pueblo leaders, local elected officials, and the Protect Caja del Rio coalition will hold two major events this week. These events aim to bring attention to the irreversible harm the project poses to sacred landscapes, wildlife, and cultural heritage sites in northern New Mexico and call on federal officials to stop the transmission line.

What: Peace and Prayer Pilgrimage to Protect the Caja del Rio and Press Conference
Who: Santa Fe County Commissioners Anna Hansen and Camilla Bustamante, Pueblo and Hispanic community members, faith leaders and more.
When: Friday, October 25, 12 p.m. MT
Where: Participants will meet at the Santa Fe County Administrative Complex (240 Grant Ave.) and walk to the National Nuclear Security Administration building (N. Guadalupe St.) for the press conference.
