Wildhorse Foundation Awards Grants to 26 Recipients in Q2

Pendleton, OR (August 25, 2023) – The Wildhorse Foundation, a community fund established by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR), announced its grant awards for the second quarter of 2023.
 
The Wildhorse Foundation received 45 applications in the second quarter of 2023 with requests totaling over $825,000. 25 organizations were awarded grants ranging from $3475 to $30,000 for projects in the categories of Public Health, Public Safety, Arts, Education, Historic Preservation, and Cultural Activities. The total funding awarded was $346,205.00.
 
In 2022, the Wildhorse Foundation awarded $1,383,347 in grant funding to eligible government, Tribal, and charitable organizations. From 2001 to 2022, nearly $16 million in funding was awarded. All funding benefits the people and communities within the Wildhorse Foundation giving area, reflecting the CTUIR homelands.

In addition to the Wildhorse Foundation, there are five other Tribal community funds and foundations in Oregon. Collectively, these organizations gave out nearly $11 million in grant funding in 2022. The other Tribal philanthropic organizations are Spirit Mountain Community Fund, Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund, 3 Rivers Community Foundation, Coquille Tribal Community Fund, and Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation.
 
Tribal grantmakers in Washington include the Kalispel Charitable Fund, Suquamish Foundation, Cowlitz Tribal Foundation, Tulalip Cares, Muckleshoot Charity Fund, and Port Gamble S’Klallam Foundation, to name a few.
