Pechanga Blood Drive Provide Local Supply With Largest Infusion of 2022

One of the best donor turnouts leads to highest collection of the year

Temecula, Calif. (August 3, 2022) – As many as 417 lives can be saved thanks to a recent blood drive hosted at Pechanga Resort Casino. Pechanga teamed up with LifeStream Blood Bank for the July 28 event. Between Pechanga’s Team Members and many community donors, 139 units of blood were collected at the event. With each unit of blood able to save three lives, LifeStream called this blood drive one of the most successful in recent weeks and months.

This was the third blood drive hosted at Pechanga Resort Casino in 2022. In April, 69 units were collected while in March 92 units were collected from giving donors. The number one goal is to make sure hospital patients have blood available for emergency and everyday medical care. The blood drive came as California and the Nation continue to face a critical blood shortage. Blood bank officials have categorized blood supplies available throughout the country in hours, not days.

With local hospitals being hit be plummeting blood bank supplies, these vital additions to local blood supply can make all the difference for patients that may need life-altering procedures.

As a sign of gratitude, donors received free beach towels and t-shirts, as well being eligible to enter a raffle. Gifts included gas cards and other great prizes from Pechanga Resort Casino, as well as $50 gift cards courtesy of LifeStream.

Even with a great turnout, local hospitals still face a blood shortage. If you were not able to make it to the blood drive, you can still donate at one of LifeStream’s Donor Centers. Please visit https://www.lstream.org/contact/donor-centers/ to learn more.

How to donate blood
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
