Today, April 13, 2020, the Department of the Interior announced plans for the distribution of $522 million in CARES Act resources for coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention, preparedness, and response in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. These funds include $453 million to be administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and $69 million to be administered by the Bureau of Indian Education.
The Assistant Secretary will host a tribal leader conference call on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (EDT) to discuss the distribution of these funds. All tribal leaders are encouraged to attend.
