Hard Rock Sacramento Celebrates Local Women Leaders and Icons During March’s International Women’s Month

In addition to special events, Hard Rock honors two key employees who recently received national awards for their leadership and performance

Wheatland, Calif. (March 7, 2024) — Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento is proud to honor March’s International Women’s Month with special programming and the opportunity to spotlight two of their own who were recently recognized for their hard work and dedication to the organization. Currently women hold 44% of leadership positions on the property, an initiative Hard Rock strives to support and develop on a local and international basis. Meghan McCarthy, V.P. of Operations, and Molly Landis, Box Office Manager of Hard Rock Live, recently received prestigious corporate and industry awards.

Meghan McCarthy was named one of five finalists out of 50,000 employees of Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming for the Chairman’s Award, the highest individual performance recognition in the organization. She has led the property’s Hotel and Sales & Catering teams, and most recently the Food & Beverage and Retail divisions. Under McCarthy, these departments have seen team member morale increase, guest service improvements, and a positive impact on revenue and hiring. McCarthy was part of the property opening team and a key mentor and role model when the property launched its Hard Rock global Women in Leadership program. Hard Rock’s Women in Leadership program offers education, mentorship, and networking opportunities that encourage and support development for women throughout the organization.

Molly Landis, Box Office Manager for Hard Rock Live Sacramento (recently ranked #1 Club venue by Pollstar in California), was named an honoree for the 2024 VenuesNow Ticketing Star Awards. This prestigious award is nominated and voted upon by industry peers, with only five winners selected. Since opening June 2022, the venue has had 42 sellouts out of 121 shows, generating $15.3 million in revenue on 200,000 tickets sold.

“Meghan and Molly both expertly represent the Hard Rock brand and are dedicated to our mission,” explained Mark Birtha, President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain. “They embody our company’s values and clearly deserve to receive these high-profile awards.   They are true hospitality rock stars, and we are honored to have them on our team.”

Hard Rock Sacramento played host to the sold-out third-annual A Day for Women event on Saturday, March 4th.  The program attracted 360 attendees to the “English Tea” and was hosted in Hard Rock Live. The program featured keynote speakers, including Glenda Nelson, Tribal Chair since 2005 of the Enterprise Rancheria Eston Yumeka Maidu Tribe, which owns the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain, and nationally renowned speaker, author and consultant, Jennifer Mrozek Sukalo of SWAGGERU. A Day for Women was honored to have California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis welcome the attendees.  Four awards for Yuba-Sutter women leaders were named including the Soroptimist’s “Live Your Dream” program awards, The “Meraki Scholarship”, the “Women Who Rise” Award, and the “Athena International” Award.

Hard Rock Sacramento will continue to recognize International Women’s Month throughout March.  Guests can come cheer on their favorite female performers from Dancing with the Stars! Live on March 9th or attend a special Women’s Day brunch on March 10 where Ariel Jean (and her sisters) will perform an acoustic trio. Hard Rock Café kicked off weekly shows by local female music artists with Frankie McCabe. Future dates include:

  • March 8 – Cynthia Renee
  • March 22 – Serena Karise
  • March 29 – Sofia Clare

Additionally, guests can tour our Hard Rock memorabilia on display anytime. A few special pieces by female music icons include:

  • Taylor Swift Dress – Few artists in history have impacted a generation quite like singer/songwriter Taylor Swift. This simple dress is from Taylor’s personal wardrobe.
  • Shakira Dress – Colombian pop superstar Shakira wore this dress in the video for her 2010 hit, “Addicted to You”.
  • Gwen Stefani Bodysuit – No Doubt frontwoman and solo megastar Gwen Stefani wore this leotard on stage while performing with the ska/pop legends.
  • Whitney Houston Suit – Much more than just a talented artist, Whitney changed the face of pop music and has influenced most contemporary female singers. Whitney wore this outfit on stage in the ‘90s.
  • Rihanna Dress – In some ways, Barbadian megastar Rihanna is the archetype of the 21st century pop artist. She conquered the world of music and then quickly reinvented herself as a savvy entrepreneur in the hypercompetitive fashion industry. She wore this Stella Jean dress when she visited the White House in 2014.

Hard Rock Café Sacramento is also celebrating through April with special dishes designed with actor and activist and Hard Rock International Brand Ambassador Eva Longoria including:

  • Berry & Goat Cheese Salad
  • Spring Pasta
  • Mahi Burger
  • Coconut Almond Sundae
  • Two Specialty Cocktails
  • Pink Lace Margarita with Longoria’s Casa Del Sol Tequila
  • Run the World guava cocktail with Hendrick’s Gin and a delicate float of Pinot Noir
  • Proceeds to benefit understudied Women’s Health & Research at Magee-Women’s Research Institute and Global Gift Foundation via HEALS.
