MASHANTUCKET, CT (March 23, 2021) – Foxwoods Resort Casino, the premier resort casino in North America, is once again reopening the Grand Theater, its largest indoor entertainment venue, and resuming shows at limited capacity with extensive safety protocols in place. The resort’s return to hosting live performances on the big stage kicks off as Foxwoods announces two performances by comedic legend Dave Chappelle in June. Known for his trademark sharp wit and irreverent social commentary, Dave Chappelle is prepared to bring his laugh-out-loud set to the Foxwoods stage. For guests eager to share a laugh before this summer, the first live show at the newly reopened Grand Theater will feature New England’s own funnyman Bob Marley on March 27.
Similar to its preliminary reopening last fall, the Grand Theater will open its doors with considerable safety protocols in place. Developed by local experts and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe’s Chief Medical Officer, the guidelines for live entertainment include a reconfigured theater operating at limited capacity, fewer seats to allow for more social distancing, and a structured entering and exiting process including reserved entry times to reduce crowds. Additional safety measures include an enhanced contactless ticketing approach, mandatory face masks for audience members, and a maximized ventilation system for fresh air flow. The full entertainment safety plan for The Grand Theater can be found here.
“The return of live entertainment at Foxwoods Resort Casino is an exciting reintroduction for the resort and our loyal guests alike,” said Monique Sebastian, VP of Entertainment and Entertainment Marketing at Foxwoods Resort Casino. “In October 2020, Foxwoods was one of the first destinations in the US to cautiously reintroduce live entertainment in a large-scale theater and led the industry with standard-setting safety procedures, and we’re thrilled to once again set the stage for an exciting season of entertainment.”
Foxwoods’ lineup of entertainment this spring and summer is sure to meet everyone’s tastes – starting with New England comedian Bob Marley on March 27, to the Indigo Girls on April 24 and world-acclaimed singer John Legend on August 27. The resort casino is also excited to welcome internationally recognized comic Dave Chappelle to the Grand Theater for two performances on June 25-26.
In addition to the numerous safety protocols put in place by Foxwoods, guests attending the Dave Chappelle show will also be required to take an onsite rapid COVID-19 antigen test before entering the venue. All guests must participate in the rapid testing, including those who have received COVID-19 vaccinations. If COVID-19 is detected by the rapid test, the individual and all members of the same household will not be allowed to enter and will be given a refund. Masks will still be required at all times while in the venue. The cost of the rapid test is reflected in the ticket price, which will be available for purchase on March 26 at www.foxwoods.com/dave-chappelle.
