NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK (September 25, 2025) – Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is preparing to welcome one of the most recognizable and accomplished models in the world. Ashley Callingbull, the acclaimed model, actress, activist, and author, who was crowned Miss Universe Canada in 2024, will model on the runway at the 3rd Annual Indigenous Fashion Show on Saturday, November 1.
Callingbull made history last summer when she was crowned Miss Universe Canada 2024, becoming the first Indigenous woman to win the title. A member of the Enoch Cree Nation, she was the first First Nations representative from North America to compete for the title of Miss Universe, finishing in the Top 12 at the 2024 pageant in Mexico. In addition, Callingbull, 35, was the first woman over 28 to claim the title of Miss Universe Canada.
Breaking barriers and setting new standards in beauty and grace is nothing new for Callingbull. In 2015, she became the first Canadian and first Indigenous winner of the Mrs. Universe title, and, in 2022, she was the first Indigenous woman to appear as a Sports Illustrated model.
For her community work, Callingbull received the Role Model Award from the United Nations on Global Dignity Day. She was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for her dedication of public service to family, community and her country. Callingbull has been named one of Canada’s Top 10 Power Women and was inducted into the Circle of Honour at the Esquao Awards, which recognizes Indigenous female leaders and activists.
“Ashley Callingbull has elegantly represented Indigenous culture on the global stage,” said Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino General Manger Joanne Israel. “She celebrates the strength, beauty and resiliency of Indigenous people, culture, and traditions through her work, inspiring Indigenous girls to see their heritage as a source of pride. We are thrilled that she will be at Seneca Niagara to walk the runway at this year’s Indigenous Fashion Show and to showcase the extraordinary talents of our participating Indigenous designers.”
The Indigenous Fashion Show will feature a stunning blend of traditional and contemporary designs, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and artistry of Indigenous fashion. This year’s runway show will showcase the designs of 13 Indigenous designers: Bitterwater for Redhouse; Bruno Henry; Cami Jones Designs; G-Gei-Sas; Homer Couture; Kreations by Kehala; Martha LeRoy Designs; Pidabinikwe; ResiliencexCarlyKoban; Shinymoon Creations; Stray; The Snipes Nest; and Tisha Thompson.
In addition, the handiwork of accessory designers Beads by Arielle, Mary Jacobs Designs, and The Urban Gaiyowah will accent the fashion selections being modeled throughout the show.
All of the original designs and stunning accessories will be modeled by 46 Indigenous male and female models from across Turtle Island. After the show, attendees can shop exclusive runway pieces and other handcrafted creations at a number of designer pop-up shops.
The 3rd Annual Indigenous Fashion Show will be held in the Seneca Niagara Event Center starting at 6 p.m. This is a 16+ only event.
