A powerful celebration of Native and non-Native service members unites community, culture, and country

Mashantucket, Conn (November 5, 2025) — The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation proudly presents the Puneesuwak “Honoring” Our Veterans event, a distinguished gathering honoring over 200 years of Native and non-Native Americans serving side by side in the U.S. Armed Forces. This annual powwow is a heartfelt tribute to bravery, sacrifice, and the enduring bonds forged through service.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center. Each year, hundreds of veterans, active-duty service members, families, and community members attend to experience the extraordinary energy and cultural richness of the powwow.

“The Puneesuwak Our Veterans event is a sacred opportunity to honor those who have served, while sharing and preserving the traditions that define our people,” said Josh Carter, Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center Executive Director.
Attendees will be immersed in majestic performances, intricate regalia, and traditional music, from dancers and singers within the soaring, two-story, glass-encased Gathering Space. The event celebrates not only military service but also the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s enduring commitment to sovereignty, cultural preservation, and community unity.
