Chairman Stevens and his Family were Keynote Speakers at the AIBL Conference at RES.

Las Vegas, NV. (March 18, 2025) – In a powerful display of leadership and family values, Ernie Stevens, Jr., Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association, took the stage alongside his daughters, Margaret and Lois, at the esteemed American Indian Business Leaders (AIBL) Business and Leadership Conference. This impactful event occurred simultaneously with the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED) Reservation Economic Summit (RES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, the Stevens trio captivated and inspired emerging business leaders with transformative insights from their professional journeys, leaving a lasting impact on the future of Native entrepreneurship.

As Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association and a dedicated father, Ernie Stevens Jr. exemplifies the power of perseverance and support in achieving success. He teaches his children that success is not a destination but a journey, requiring unwavering dedication and the courage to navigate obstacles. He added, “At the Stevens family, we believe our role is not above anyone else’s. We grow and learn together daily, just like everyone here.”
By sharing his own stories of overcoming challenges, Stevens instills in them the belief that relentless commitment is crucial for achieving personal and professional aspirations. His roles as a leader and mentor underscore his profound dedication to elevating his family and the larger community he serves. He emphasizes, “This gathering highlights business in Indian Country, and anyone pursuing business success must recognize that it transcends personal ambition; it’s about driving success for the tribal communities we represent. We must always keep this in mind.”

Margaret Stevens, an entrepreneur and the Executive Director of She Rises Collective, shared her insights on the true meaning of business success. She stated, “Owning multiple businesses doesn’t equate to wealth; it’s rooted in a passion for helping others and a dedication to self-wellness.” Margaret emphasized that self-improvement is essential, allowing individuals to better contribute to their families, communities, and the world.

During an inspiring session with the group of young Native entrepreneurs, Dr. Lois Stevens, an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, shared a poignant lesson from her childhood. Reflecting on her mother’s practice of allowing only three questions daily, she said, “This limitation taught me the power of intentional questioning and the art of listening closely.” Dr. Stevens emphasized that these skills are vital for personal and professional growth, urging the youth to cultivate them as they navigate their entrepreneurial journeys.

Prairie Blount, Executive Director of AIBL, said, “We were honored to welcome Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr., along with his daughters, Margaret and Dr. Lois Stevens, as keynote speakers at the AIBL Business & Leadership Conference. Their shared wisdom, rooted in experience, perseverance, and community values, provided an invaluable inspiration for our students and emerging Native entrepreneurs.

At AIBL, we strive to equip Native youth with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive. Hearing directly from leaders like the Stevens family reminds us all that success is a lifelong journey—one that is strengthened through dedication, cultural values, and community support.”
