Tama, IA (July 10, 2024) – Scott Sirois, General Manager of Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel in Tama, IA, recently announced the appointment of Kurt Schmidt as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Schmidt started his casino career as CFO for the Ho-Chunk Nation in Wisconsin and then proceeded working throughout the years for a total of nine different tribal gaming organizations throughout the Southwest, Southeast and Midwest as CFO, GM, and/or CEO before he eventually found his way to the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa (Meskwaki Nation).
Born and raised a cheesehead, Schmidt graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an Accounting degree and passed the CPA exam. Years later after starting a full-time career and family, he returned to the University for his Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).
Now living in Marshalltown, IA, Schmidt enjoys a commute of only 15 minutes from the casino; however, the bigger picture commute for him and Linda, his wife of 38 years, is from/to Green Bay-Milwaukee, with that road trip “only” around five to six hours. That proximity to their children and grandkids (and Lambeau Field!) is a big part of what made Iowa so attractive to Schmidt and his wife.
“I look forward to making a positive contribution to build upon on the past legacy of incredible success and help position
Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel to move forward in a highly competitive market,” Schmidt said.
