James Siva Re-Elected as CNIGA Chairman
James Siva, Morongo Band of Mission Indians Vice Chairman and TLC Secretary, was re-elected unopposed as Chairman of the California Nations Indian Gaming Association (CNIGA) on December 11, 2025. His continued leadership reflects the confidence and trust placed in him by Tribal gaming leaders throughout California.
Andrew Alejandre Sworn in to California Native American Heritage Commission
TLC Vice President Andrew Alejandre was recently sworn in as Executive Secretary of the California Native American Heritage Commission following his appointment by California Governor Gavin Newsom. In this critical role, Alejandre will help protect and preserve Native American cultural resources, sacred sites, and burial grounds throughout the state.
Mauricia J, Chavarria Elected to Leadership Role in SWiFT
Board Member Marucia J. Chavarria, MBA, was elected Vice President of the Sovereign Women in Tribal Finance Tribunal, a position that recognizes her expertise in Tribal finance and economic development. Chavarria’s election highlights the growing influence of Tribal women leaders in the financial sector.
Steven Orihuela Appointed to Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair Board
On November 10, 2025, Bishop Paiute Tribal Chairman and TLC Board Member Steven Orihuela, MBA, was appointed by California Governor Gavin Newsom to serve on the Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair Board. This appointment strengthens Tribal representation in regional agriculture and community development initiatives across the Eastern Sierra region.
